At St Thomas', each school year provides us with an opportunity to explore our Catholic
Identity more deeply as we focus on a new theme that connects directly to our school's
charism and Vision and Mission. In 2021, we extend an invitation to all members of our
community to join us in exploring the value of JUSTICE, as we celebrate our theme, 'ACT
WITH JUSTICE'. Our spiritual journey this year will foster and deepen our connections
with the First Nations people’s history and culture as we explore Justice, Peace and
Reconciliation, all prominent characteristics of a Benedictine spirituality.
The main symbol of this year's theme is a commissioned art piece completed by indigenous
artist Eric Ellis. Eric, a Kamilaroi and Warumunga Man and staff member of Brisbane
Catholic Education's Ngutana-Lui centre, presented the artwork to staff at our recently held
Formation Day. The artwork is Eric's interpretation of our Vision and Mission, using
indigenous symbolism to capture our school's story. I include in our latest newsletter a snippet of Eric's
presentation to staff for your referral.
Our 2021 theme will be officially launched at the Whole School Liturgy to be held at
9am on Wednesday 10th February in the Noble Tree Centre.
