End of Year Activities

Virtual End of Year Dance Cart Concert

As mentioned over the two previous weeks, our traditional annual End of Year Concert and P and F Community Celebration will take on a very new look this year. With the support of the P and F, we encouraging families to get together with other families on the evening of Friday 27th November for a special Virtual End of Year Celebration. On this evening, all families will be provided with a link to view our special pre filmed Virtual Dance Cart Christmas Concert, along with some other items to help celebrate the end of year. I commend and thank the P and F for their support in promoting this event!

Year 6 Graduation

Our Year 6 Graduation Mass will be held in the St Thomas’ church on Wednesday 2nd December, commencing at 5:30pm for immediate family members and some staff. Traditionally, the Graduation Mass is followed by a supper provided by the P and F and served by our Year 5 families. Unfortunately, we are unable to hold this part of the evening due to the restrictions. In lieu of the supper, the school will be taking our Year 5 and Year 6 students the following morning to the Stamford Plaza, for a very special 'High Tea'. This special occasion will provide us with an opportunity to celebrate our current Year 6 Leaders, and ‘hand the baton over’ to our 2021 Year 6 Leaders in a very intimate and special occasion.

Final Day of the School Year

With only a little over a week to go I can now share with you all our plans for the final day of the school year. As with previous years, all BCE schools finish at 12 midday on the last day. I provide the following details for your referral:

What is the timetable for the final day?

  • 8:30am - School commences as normal
  • 9am - Whole School Liturgy in The Noble tree Centre (invited guests only- the liturgy will be livestreamed to all parents)
  • 10:30am - Morning Tea (P and F providing packaged Morning Tea for all students!)
  • 11am - Students return to class
  • 11:50am - Covid-Safe Pick-up for Prep and Year 2 students
  • 12 midday - Covid-Safe Pick-up for Years 3 to 6

Who can attend the final day liturgy?

After reviewing the most recent COVID-19 health advice provided by Brisbane Catholic Education, this school is only able to extend an invitation to one parent/caregiver per family, of any child finishing at St Thomas’ at the end of this year. This pertains to all Year 6 students, all Year 4 boys and a few students from other year levels. These families have already received an invitation from the school.

To enable all parents to be part of this special celebration, the school has invested in livestreaming the liturgy to our parent community. The link to the live streaming will only be provided to parents of St Thomas'. This link will be shared with our families next Wednesday 2 December along with instructions for using various devices. The link is not to be shared or the streaming recorded. Parents who wish for their child not to be included in the livestreaming will need to contact the Front Office.

How do I collect my child on the final day at 12 midday?

As per the details above, the current collection procedures will be in place for the collection of all students. Both the Perth St and Stephen St drive-through 'Pick-up' zones will be supervised as per our normal collection arrangements. To reduce congestion onsite, our Prep and Year 2 students will be available for collection at 11:50am. All other students will be dismissed at 12 midday.
