Project Compassion Launch

Yesterday I had the pleasure of taking two of our Year 6 Catholic Identity Student Ministry members to St Stephen’s Cathedral for the Project Compassion Launch Liturgy. Remy and Rylan represented St Thomas’ school with great pride and enthusiasm. They should be very proud of themselves for their respectful and responsible conduct which was demonstrated throughout the entire excursion.

The two students were presented with an invitation to promote the work of Caritas in their school community. I have included their reflections following the liturgy.

Yesterday we went to St Stephen’s Cathedral for the launch of Project Compassion. The liturgy began with an Acknowledgment of Country which was given by Eric Ellis, the artist of our ‘Act with Justice’ themed painting. During this liturgy, Archbishop Mark Coleridge shared with us the message of not just ‘doing more’ or ‘saying more’ but to ‘BE MORE’ and this year the challenge for us is to ‘Be More’ to others. Each school was presented with a scroll containing a list of ways to ‘Be More’ during Lent. We have attached this scroll for you to read. We really enjoyed this experience and are looking forward to spreading the message of ‘Being More’ during the Lenten Season this year.
