Next Monday our girls' and boys' teams will play in the QLD AFL Gala Day at Coorparoo AFL fields. The teams have been training very well with the boys' team fortunate enough to have the expertise of Greg Davis as their coach. We are very excited for this day to show our training tips and practices, and our talent. The boys will be playing teams of players in years 5 and 6 but will definitely play with passion and pride. Our girls have been training and developing their strategies and skills for the game.

The game draw is not yet out so I am unable to pass on the game times. If we receive them in the next day or two, I will attempt to let all parents know the times if you are able to come and support the teams.

Players need to be at school at 7.40am for a 7.50am bus departure. This will have us at the fields quite early but is necessary to accommodate bus availability during peak school travel time. Players will return to school by 3.00pm. Players all know their playing kit of school representative singlet and lycra shorts / football shorts, school sports shorts/, playing boots or runners and most importantly, a MOUTHGUARD. Players all need to bring a very nutritious lunch and morning tea and not rely on the canteen.

We are moving onto our athletics unit this week in preparation for our Athletics carnival in Term 3, on August 3rd at Villanova Playing fields. All students will be involved in this carnival.

All students have been running an endurance run at the beginning of most lessons. This will be a good preparation for our students for the athletics.

This running fitness could be of use in the holidays for Qld's own Gold Coast running festival, held on the weekend of July 3 and 4 starting at Southport. There are a number of distances available to all runners from 2.5 km to the 42.2 marathon. Entries close this Friday June 4. This is always a fantastic weekend for many runners and families.
