Visual Arts at St Thomas'

It is important to acknowledge, with gratitude, the many resources and activities which are provided to enhance the education of our students as a result of the generosity and the hard work of our school’s parent body.

The exhibition of student artwork on the weekend of the 90th Celebrations was a reminder of the funds that were provided, which enabled our students to benefit from the expertise of a specialist Arts teacher, Mrs Rachel Vickers, who taught Visual Arts lessons over the last term. It was pleasing to see the different applications of artistic technique and the variety of artwork on show in the Noble Tree Centre on the community celebration day. The Arts is such an important aspect of education which provides the time and opportunity for self- expression.

Currently, in the Makerspace at lunch times, our Year 4 students are enjoying building, programming, testing, modifying and collaborating using the Lego robotics equipment. The purchase of this resource has been possible due to the Parents & Friends Association’s commitment to funding STEM education for our school. When we return from holidays, robotics fun will continue with funds provided by the P&F. Our students will participate in an incursion using the Lego equipment once again, allowing our students to explore further.

We are indeed very grateful for this continued support, which enriches our students’ education.
