National Reconciliation Week

This week we celebrate National Reconciliation Week across Australia. This year's theme, Now More Than Ever, serves as a reminder to all of us that the rights for our First Nations people is of ongoing importance.

In 1986, Pope John Paul II (now Saint. John Paul II) made a historical visit to Alice Springs. During his visit he provided the following words of reflection, which continue to be relevant almost 40 years on, now more than ever:

‘Your culture, which shows the lasting genius and dignity of your race, must not be allowed to disappear… Your songs, your stories, your paintings, your dances, your languages, must never be lost.’ - Pope John Paul II

Our commitment to reconciliation is of high importance in our community, The St Thomas' Vision for Reconciliation can be found here for your reference.
